De-coking

THE PROBLEM

Production rates and flow assurance are jeopardised by fouling in process tubes and pipe systems, which can also hasten corrosion.
Such fouling can result in overheating in heat exchange tube systems, compromising their integrity and potentially causing catastrophic collapse.
Product, process, and system design all affect the type and appearance of fouling. It can show up in crude oil systems as scale in steam generation systems and petroleum coke, which may contain inorganic particles. There have been several methods used in the past to get rid of this kind of pollution. In the industry, mechanical cleaning—also referred to as pig decoking or pigging—has emerged as the preferred technique.

THE SOLUTION

We, Pegasus Advance Engineering a subsidiary of Mun Siong Group of Companies (since 1969) has over brilliant years of experience in this widely prefers technique – De-coking.
As part of our service-led solution, we link our Double Pumping Unit equipment to the tube/pipeline asset and use mechanical piggs of varying sizes to gradually scrape away layers of coke and scale.

Our Pumping Unit provides the pressurised water flow that propels scraper piggs. Our professional staff oversees this process from the machine’s on-board control room. All the debris is carried back to the machine for further filtration and disposal when water is used.

OUR MACHINE

A custom-built Double Pumping Unit 40ft container.
Often called a DPU, this trailer or containerised unit is specifically designed to connect and deploy mechanical “scraper” pigs and is equipped with all the necessary tools and features. These are the main components to the unit:

  • Manned Control Room
  • Tracking of the progress in static graph
  • Water Tanks

HEADER DELIVERY SYSTEM

Complete Cleaning: Compared to manual or less advanced procedures, the system’s design guarantees full covering of the equipment’s surface, resulting in a more thorough removal of coke.

Efficiency and Speed: Cleaning time is greatly decreased by automated cleaning fluid distribution, which also minimises downtime and boosts overall process efficiency.

Decreased Labour expenses: By eliminating the need for human labour, automated solutions improve worker safety while reducing labour expenses.

Consistent Cleaning: By preventing irregularities and guaranteeing ideal outcomes, the regulated application of cleaning agents guarantees uniform cleaning in every area.

Increased Safety: By reducing worker exposure to hazardous chemicals and high-pressure situations, automated systems enhance workplace safety in general.

Scalability: Header delivery systems can be readily expanded to meet the various de-coking operation sizes and levels of complexity.

Header delivery systems find applications in various de-coking processes, including:

  • Coke Drum Cleaning: Efficiently removing coke deposits from coke drums, a critical step in petroleum refining. –
  • Heat Exchanger Cleaning: Cleaning heat exchangers to restore their efficiency and prevent fouling.
  • Reactor Cleaning: Removing coke deposits from reactors to maintain optimal process performance.
